Review: Kingston microSDXC UHS-I U3 64 GB

Kingston products never let its users down. May it be through performance, features, build quality or any other sector, Kingston never fails to flaunt.

It now offers the Kingston microSDHC/SDXC UHS-I U3 (Ultra High-Speed Bus, Speed Class 3) Memory card which features mind boggling speeds, allowing users to capture cinema-quality full HD (1080p), ultra HD (2160p), 3D and 4K videos. Specifically made for photographers, it’s a perfect match for high-performance, small form factor devices such as smartphones and portable camcorders alike. With speeds of 90MB/s read and 80MB/s write, it makes editing and uploading files virtually unnoticeable.

It’s made to suit the standard expandable storage option for many tablets, smartphones and action cameras on the market today, micro SD. The card also functions as a full-size SDHC/SDXC card with the included adapter. The card even rated for waterproofing, along with other proof-ings like shock and vibration proof, x-ray proof and temperature proof. Photographers can feel secure using the card for action photography and in harsh or challenging conditions. To make the icing on the cake, the microSDHC/SDXC UHS-I U3 Flash card is covered by a lifetime warranty, free technical support and legendary Kingston reliability.

The Test

To test this device, we used three different platforms to check read/write speeds.

#1 Camera

We used a Canon DSLR to see if the claimed write times can be achieved in the real world and we were not disappointed. The SD card reads and writes HD and 2K at amazing speeds.

The speeds are stated to be 90MB/s read and 80MB/s write.

#2 Computer

Using a laptop computer with good specs, we tested the microSD card filling it up to the brim and then completely formatting the data copied. That was 64 GB of data in and out of the card.

The highest speed we were able to achieve while copying on our fairly good conditioned PC was a little under 50 MBPS. That’s quite a lot.

It also took fairly less time to be formatted.

#3 Smartphone

Most of us might buy this SD card for use on our smartphones. We tested this on a Sony Xperia Z3 and the results were amazing.

Video recording and playback was great, no stutters or lag at all. We even installed a few high end supported games in the SD card to see how it fares and sure enough, it performed.

Kingston microSDXC UHS-I U3 90R/80W Specs/Features:

Our experience with this storage device was great. The quick read/write times and amazing capacity are contributors to this fact. To test this device out, The card was used in the Sony Xperia Z3. Typical use was for 2K video capture, photo stills and even storage of HD movies and games. The storage device performed impeccably and we never experience any sort of lag or stutter.

If you’re on the look out for a high capacity card for your digital cameras, DSLR kits, smartphones or almost any other gadget, Kingston’s UHS-I fits the bill pretty neatly. For any quires or suggestions, please use the comments section below.
