Optoma UHD 4K – The Arrival of Prime Projectors

4K projectors seem to be starting to trickle down to mid-price projectors. Thanks to Optoma. So far, home theater projectors with 4K resolution were available at over $8,000. Optoma seems to have slashed that price by 75 percent by unveiling two UHD single-chip DLP projectors. The UHD-60 projector costs $1,999 and the UHD-65 projector costs $2,499, which makes these two products the least expensive 4K projectors available in the market. Great news for the home theatre projector enthusiasts!

Highlighted Feature

4K Ultra HD Resolution and HDR Compatible

With over 8 million pixels, they’re engineered to deliver more life-like and immersive experiences to consumers. Packed with all latest features and technology, it boasts high dynamic range compatibility.

Color & Detail

Rec.709 colors are exceeded by more than 100%. They’re also Rec.2020 compatible to let us recreate the big screen experience at home. Noteworthy, I must admit. So far, information on the contrast reproduction and detailing seem to be positive. Optoma is promising crystal clear picture.

PureMotion & PureColor

Equipped with frame interpolation processing (UHD65 only), advanced motion control therfore eliminates noise, motion blur and even image throbbing. PureColor is another technology Optoma is touing, claiming a substantial increase in images’ clarity. It is available on the UHD65 only though.

PureContrast & Dynamic Mode Technology

PureContrast will optimize the brightness of the display screen during dark or light movie scenes automatically. This again, is a UHD65 exclusive. With Dynamic Mode Technology, we could witness adjustments on the lamp’s output in real time – based on the brightness of the image displayed to create high contrast ratio while extending lamp life. Bright scenes remain crisp and clear, while dark scenes are detailed with deep blacks in addition to exceptional light and shade detail.

Integrated Speakers

We’re getting integrated speakers as well, and to me this is my favorite feature. Stereo speakers (built-in speakers) should provide exceptional sound quality, preventing unwanted frequencies or vibrations. With no external speakers involved, setup should be easy too.
