If you have suddenly found yourself practicing social distancing due to the novel COVID-19 outbreak, then you must be relying on the internet to keep your sanity intact.
With an increasing number of people having started working from home or learning remotely to curb the spread of the virus, having a stable, fast, reliable internet connection or CenturyLink bundles has become essential.

A slight delay in downloading, weak signals, and slow internet speeds can leave you frustrated when you are working from home. But, leave your worries behind, we are here with a guide to help you boost your internet speed like never before. So, let’s just dive right in!

    Time-Shift Your Video Chats

Getting high-speed internet at work hours is all about discovering the balance between what data you are sharing and when you are sharing it.

Do you need to make a video call at 10 o’clock sharp to discuss an important project with the entire team? Well, it is not a good idea to start a meeting early in the morning because chances are, lots of people in your neighborhood are also working from home or attending online classes.

Bear in mind, when you and your neighbors use the same internet service and do high-bandwidth activities at the same time, it could slow everyone’s internet down and even cause it to drop.

Now you must be wondering what’s the probable solution? Well, you can do nothing about it other than waiting a few minutes. It would be great if you manage to time-shift your call 20 to 30 minutes ahead or behind. This is a surefire to avoid any connection issues.

Not only that, it will also put less strain on the videoconferencing or calling services you are using. At times, an hour delay in a call can improve quality and put an end to abrupt internet disconnection.

    Consider Securing Your Connection

Are you someone whose job is to deal with important and sensitive data on a regular basis? If your answer to this question is yes, then know that getting a secure connection is essential for you!

There are different companies out there that count on Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to make sure their employees share and obtain data across a shared or public network. These private networks play a vital role in protecting your sensitive data.

Apart from that, they ensure your online privacy and security that puts your mind at ease as it decreases the likelihood of leaking your information to the wrong hands. There is a good chance that your company or educational institute already has a preferred VPN that is used for several security reasons. In case they don’t, there are several virtual networks out there that you could use for safe browsing.

There’s No Need to Hide Your Router

Let’s face it- it’s not your fault if your router isn’t as attractive as you expected it to be. But, it is certainly not a good idea to hide it behind knick-knacks or nor is it ideal to keep it on the floor or under a table. Why would you want to disguise it while surfing the web or streaming your favorite videos online?

Keep in mind that such type of complication is not beneficial for you in terms of connectivity. Doors, furniture, showpieces, walls, and everything else in the way of your router will have a negative impact on the range and connection strength, especially if you are working on your tasks in some other room.

If you genuinely want to alleviate the issue, then make sure you try to show off your wireless router. By showing it off, we mean that you need to ensure that you move it to some prominent place— or at least somewhere unhindered. Well, no one would come and take the time to criticize the design of your router.

    Hardware Upgrade

Let’s face it- a modem is responsible for bringing the internet signals your way, whether you are at your office or your own home. At times, all you need is a signal booster that plays a vital role in getting you a stronger internet signal in specific areas of your house where the signal is weak.

First things first- it is crucial to ensure that your modem is strong enough to support the internet speeds that you need to work from the comfort of your home. Well, the second step is to make sure that your router also supports that speed.

Next, take the time to make sure that your workstation is close enough to the router. If not, then consider investing in a signal booster to get the same internet speed you are paying for. Sometimes just restarting the router fixes a connection problem. So, make sure you try doing that as well.

    Ending Note

In case you don’t find the aforementioned tips useful, then maybe upgrading to a faster internet plan and paying extra money could make your experience of working from home a breeze.
